For over 40 years the American English Institute has been providing English language training to professionals, study abroad students, and students looking for a pre-academic undergraduate or graduate experience. Our varied program includes a non-credit Intensive English Program (10-week or 4-week) and UO credit classes through the Academic English for International Students. 

In the IEP, undergraduate students participate in a minimum of 18-hours per week as they prepare for the academic program of their choice. Also in the IEP, graduate students can study in the intensive program and transition to the Academic English for Graduate Preparation program, which helps students prepare and apply to graduate programs. 

In the Academic AEIS program, undergraduate and graduate students polish their language skills while working towards their degree.

The American English Institute’s Intensive English Program (IEP) is a 10-week term of study offered throughout the year. During a term, full-time students take 18 hours of core courses and up to 6 additional hours of electives.

The IEP has 7 levels, from ePrep to Level 6, that are designed for students interested in general English and undergraduate-level academic English preparation.

Graduate students who have completed Level 6 are eligible to take GradPrep courses to achieve a higher level of language and to work on academic skills that are more appropriate in a graduate context.
