University of Pittsburgh is a public, research I institution located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and ranked among the top 20 public universities in the U.S., and among the top 50 Global Universities by the U.S. News and World Report.  Pitt offers over 100 majors and is very well known for health science programs, as well as Engineering and Business. It also has a comprehensive liberal arts program with strong majors of history, economics, psychology, political science and philosophy just to name a few.  Our Philosophy major is constantly ranked among the top 3 in the world. Pittsburgh has been ranked one of the most livable cities in the U.S. It is easy to get around, safe, friendly, with a low cost of living and a variety of activities for student to do from sporting events to the arts. The Pitt campus is located in Oakland, which is the Educational, Medical & Cultural center of Pittsburgh. Our 132-acre large campus has an urban feel as well as a large green space.  The Pitt campus is centrally located and includes 18 residence halls, 7 computing labs, 7 fitness facilities, 26 libraries and collections, and numerous academic buildings including the Cathedral of Learning-the second tallest education building in the world. William Pitt Union- the studentｕｎｉｏｎis home to our Career Center which offers a guaranteed internship program provided you complete the internship prep course.  Many great companies have headquarters in the city including Google, American Eagle and the Heinz Company where students have the opportunities to intern with.  Pitt practices rolling admissions so applying early is key in the admissions process.
