How to Bridge the Digital Gap for the Elderly
In recent years, the increasing developmentpf technologies facilitates human life. The digital gap for the elderly has aroused a heated discussion. But I do not think the elders should be neglected in using new technologies.
Multiple measures should be carried out to help bridge the digital gap for older people in the city to make sure they share in the benefits of a smart society. First, online medical services should be simplified and voice-led guidance should be guided. Second, payment systems for retail, catering, shopping malls, parks and other basic public services such as water and electricity must not decline to accept cash payments. Last but not least, as young people, we should help to teach seniors to use smartphones and become more familiar with the internet and related services.
Only by the above-mentioned measures, can we effectively bridge the digital gap for old people and help them learn more from technologies.

Dear Wang Hong,
Haven’t seen you for a long time due to the outbreak of the COVID-19. Now, it is time for us to go back to school. Though the COVID-19 is under control we still need to take some protective measures after returning to school. First please wear a medical mask when you are in the classroom or the library. Second , wash your hands frequently. Third, please take your temperature at least twice a day. Fourth, keep the windows open for no less than 30 minutes everyday. Last but not least, take exercise regularly to keep fit.
I think these measunes are quite necessary. They can protect both yourself and others. they can also play an important role in preventing the spread of the COVID-19. Let’s create a safe environment for studying and living together.
I am looking forward to seeing you.
Yours
Hua

On College Students’ Taking Part-time Jobs
In contemporary society, college students’ taking part-time jobs has become a hot topic. It has a great influence on college students’ life. I believe there are both benefits and drawbacks for this issue.
Clearly, in addition to getting an income, college students taking part-time jobs may enjoy a more exciting lifestyle as they can meet people from all walks of life and develop a sense of responsibility which can’t be learned in the classroom.
On the other hand, the negative effects of part-time job are also obvious. Students who take part-time jobs may have less time focusing on study, and if they seek to excel in both the part-time job and study, the busy life they lead may put their health at risk. Besides, the society is much more complicated than they expected, they may be exposed to danger sometimes.
In my opinion, college students ought to strike a balance between academic study and part-time jobs. And always bear in mind that a student’s priority is to acquire knowledge at school.

What should determine a students grade?
When it comes to a students grade, people can never agree with each other.
Some argue that students’ grade should be determined by their test results, for such a yardstick is more objective. In this way, the focus of teaching is oriented to the preparation for tests. And thus, every point counts.
On the other hand, others hold the opinion that it is students’ attitudes towards study and their performance in class that play a significant role in students?
As far as I am concerned, I support the latter opinion. The goal of teaching is to cultivate students, study habit and develop their interest in learning more than preparing fort tests. Test is just a measure of checking students’ study. Only when a student has proper attitudes and active class involvement can we say that he has understood what study really means.
In conclusion, as learning is more a process than a result, students’ grade should be determined by their daily performance.

When asked about one of the biggest problems today, many people say that an energy crisis is approaching and is threatening mankind’s survival. They are afraid that the world is likely to run out of oil and metals and even to run short of food.
To this problem, most countries respond with the demand for more rigid conservation of our natural resources. Indeed, this is urgently needed, since the present waste of energy is so serious. If the natural resources are used economically, we can certainly slow down the present drain on the limited energy supply. However, the problem cannot be solved by conservation only. I think another way is to develop new energy resources. Obviously, no matter how hard we try to save energy resources and how abundant they are,we will use them up sooner or later. I think we don’t have to depend only on the current energy resources. There are many other energy resources that we develop such as nuclear power, water power and solar power. If so, these resources can completely replace the conventional energy and thus solve the problem of energy crisis.
In conclusion, we should each do our little part to save the limited energy resources. Let’s work together.

Dear Tom,
I am highly grateful for your concern about my country's anti-poverty,which is considered a wonder.
Ihappened tospend the Spring Festival living in my grandpa's home, which is surrounded with mountains. In the past, the people there weresopoorthatit was not easy to get enough food to feed themselves, let alonebeautiful clothing and spacious buildings. Some teens were forced to drop out of school to go out working in cities.
Nowwith the help of the government and all the people from the rich areas, all of them have gotten out of absolute poverty. Every family lives in newly-built flats, even some of them owning cars. Children can enjoy free education and the elderly are provided with free access to free health care.
I hope you can visit our country and feel the great changes.

The diagram above clearly reflects that China has made tremendous achievements in poverty alleviation from2012 to 2020.During this period,China's impoverished rural population decreased considerably from nearly 100 million to nearly zero,a decline of 100 million. At the sametime, the poverty headcount ratio also fell from approximately 10% to almost 0%.
Several primary factors that account for the above-mentioned changes could be summarized as follows. To begin with, the authorities concerned in China have adopted a combination of conventional and innovative approaches, which have helped improve rural education and healthcare. What is more, our country has put great emphasis on infrastructure establishment in poor rural areas, which has effectively bridged the gap between the rich and the poor.Last but not least, the achievements are attributed to China's speedy economic development during the past several decades.
In short,China's poverty alleviation campaign is particularly vital, both nationally and internationally. First of all,anti-poverty achievements allow more people to enjoy the advantages of its economic boom.In addition, the Chinese government has fulfilled its promise of lifting all people out of poverty.

Dear Peter,
I’m glad that you are caring about the development of my hometown. Now I will tell you something about it.
Great changes have taken place since the19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The targeted poverty reduction has reached its ideal aims. Many poor families have got effective help from local government and have improved their life greatly. Many old houses are replaced by new tall buildings which are surrounded with green trees and colourful flowers. The rivers that had been polluted seriously before are getting clearer and clearer. Besides, all kinds of fishes return the rivers. The sky is filled with white and cleaner clouds.
Please come to visit my hometown in the near future.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

In my life I have met many people who are really worth my recalling. But perhaps the most unforgettable person I ever knew is my Chinese language teacher.
What frequently brings back memories of my school teacher is his special qualities. First of all, I was attracted by his lively wit. I remember we always long for his class with great eagerness because his lecture were humorously delivered, never failing to provoke loud laughs. Second, he gave us the greatest gift a teacher can offer-- an awakening of a passion for learning. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beauty and perfection of Chinese and literature, but also aroused our great interest in exploring something deeper in this field. Finally, I was dee* impressed by the respect he showed for us, for he treated us like friends rather than students.
Although it is nearly 10 years since I attended his last class, he is the talk of our old classmates, and I know part of him has already stayed in my heart.

Fake Commodities
Fake and poor quality commodities are a serious problem. Many things can be faked such as soybean sauce, vinegar, bicycles, and many other things. The interests of consumers are affected, and many enterprises keep losing money because of cheap fake commodities.
There are some reasons for such a phenomenon. The major one is the desire of some people to “make easy money”。 These people think nothing of the law of the protection of intellectual property rights.
To get rid of fake and poor quality commodities, the government should educate people to obey the law of the protection of individual intellectual property rights and not to sell any fake goods. The government should punish severely and close down all the factories producing fake goods.
